I have been closely associated with the ILA since shortly after its inception, when my son first started to receive Direct Payments. I have been a Trustee of the ILA for the last 6 years and Chairperson of the Human Resource Committee for three years.
With government cuts, particularly hitting the elderly and disabled, this is a really important time for the ILA. The ILA should strive to expand its services to assist our Members to keep their independence and give them choice.
This will influence a much wider audience.
I have been a Director of various companies and a Trustee of organisations involved in disability, such as Scope West Sussex. I am also a Trustee and Director of Communication Matters - a national charity which is focused on helping people who use speech synthesisers.
