I first worked with the ILA as a volunteer in the advocacy service started in 2004.  Prior to that as a volunteer advocate with Age Concern. The work the ILA was doing was impressive and I joined the board of trustees in 2009.

My background is primarily in commercial business management, both in the UK and overseas.  The work involved sales, marketing, general management and company direction, ultimately as president of several overseas subsidiaries.

Having lived and worked in less developed countries, I have seen both opulence and deprivation, sometimes side by side.  This experience influenced my decision to try and help, in whatever way I could, people who are vulnerable and have difficulty making their voice heard in the society we live in.
