What is Advocacy?

Advocacy  is supporting a person to speak up in situations when they do not feel confident to speak up for themselves, particularly when they are not being listened to or treated with dignity and respect.

An advocate is someone who is independent, maintains confidentiality and is impartial.  An advocate believes that everyone has the right to be listened to and treated equally.
