Sometimes, people are very capable of being on the Direct Payments Scheme, but for a variety of reasons cannot open or maintain a bank account. For those people, the ILA can open dedicated bank accounts to receive their Direct Payments (DP).
What does the ILA Admin Service do?
The ILA Admin Service will:
- Open a named bank account for you
- Make sure that your Direct Payments funding goes into your named bank account
- Make payments from your named bank account as agreed on your Care/Support Plan
- Send monthly bank statements to you and others as required (e.g. WSCC)
How much does the Service cost?
The service has an all inclusive price of £39.80 per 4 weeks (for all of the service elements listed in the above point).
What do I need to do to receive this service?
You can ask your ILA DP advisor to set the service up for you. The ILA finance team will send out a contract for you to sign along with a bank details form. You will need to complete these forms and return them to the ILA. Once the ILA Finance team has received your completed forms, we will make all the necessary arrangements for you.
How long does it take to get started?
Once you have told your DP Advisor that you would like this service, it normally only takes around two weeks from when we receive your completed forms to start receiving your funding (as long as all other elements of your DP are in place).
Will I be able to take money out of this account?
No, the only people who can take money out of the account will be members of the ILA finance team, who can pay for goods and services as agreed on your support/care plan.
Will I be able to pay my Personal Assistants (PAs) from this account?
Yes, if your support/care plan includes support from Personal Assistants, they can be paid out of this account. If your PA Bank details are given to the ILA Finance Team, we can arrange to pay the PAs directly by transferring money straight into their accounts.
